My good friend Michael connected me with Amos Lee‘s team as they were seeking video for a couple of his shows. After some back and forth, I was brought on board to capture clips from two shows of Lee’s Transmissions tour, at Brooklyn Paramount (May 22nd) and at The Ridgefield Playhouse (May 24th). It was an exciting opportunity to work with an artist whose music I was familar with but hadn’t yet seen perform live. Lee‘s Transmissions album was still a few months from release so a lot of the songs were being revealed to fans on these shows but the sets were a mix of songs from his whole repertoire. (Fun fact: my friend Anthony Mulcahy captured photos used in the interior of the album packaging.)
After checking in and heading backstage, I found Lee and his band very welcoming of my presence (they knew someone would be making videos as other people worked with them on previous dates). Between doing their nails, rehearsing with guests and throwing a surprised birthday for one of their crew, Lee and has band were a delight to be around. I didn’t get the portrait shots I wanted and I don’t think I shot any film but I was there to capture video after all.
Of the smattering of photos I did take, I am sharing a few of them below. Also below are the highlight reels Lee’s team worked up and posted to his social media along with video of one full song that I captured. Was pretty proud to capture the couple dancing at Ridgefield.
Lee will be back on the road this spring. There are no NY dates yet but hopefully I’ll be able to catch him again soon. Thanks to Amos’s team and to Amos himself for having me out!
