Souleyman’s album ‘To Syria, With Love’ was released on Mad Decent in June.
Omar Souleyman could have inserted a ton of political commentary into Thursday night’s show at NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge and not been faulted for it. (Some wondered whether he’d get to do this tour at all.) Of course some of the music itself is political but there was hardly any pause in his performance. The Syrian refugee instead simply, but deftly, kept the audience churning on their feet to the melodies played by keyboardist Hasan Alo.
